Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Team Leadership (60%) - Lead, develop, and support a small but mighty team of four, covering events, community, product marketing, Linux marketing, PR, and influencer marketing.
  • Define strategy, optimize operational processes, and oversee team execution of campaigns and customer communications.
  • Own and manage the marketing team's budget, prioritizing investment across events, community, product marketing, Linux marketing, PR, and influencer marketing.
  • Work closely with the Creative Director and the creative team to keep the marketing and creative teams aligned through launch campaigns and other marketing initiatives.
  • Hands-On Product Marketing (40%) - Closely partner with the product marketing manager and pick up products yourself to fully cover the team's product marketing needs.
  • Lead GTM briefings for the web, customer experience, and marketing teams, writing product messaging and copy, defining target audiences, and coordinating marketing initiatives that pull in the rest of the team's functions.
  • Lead the media review cycle for your assigned products, traveling to the SF office for physical unit preparation.
  • Partner with hardware product managers and supply chain and logistics teams to keep customers informed as products move from development into their hands, maintaining Framework’s commitment to radical transparency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, with at least 3 years directly managing and developing a team, and genuine comfort spending a portion of your time as an individual contributor rather than solely directing others.
  • Deep, hands-on experience owning product marketing for a physical product end-to-end, including GTM planning, positioning, and messaging, ideally in consumer electronics, computer hardware, or another hands-on hardware category.
  • Demonstrable familiarity with at least one of the following audiences: hardware DIYers, computer tinkerers, Linux enthusiasts, Linux-based software developers, or AI developers.
  • Experience coordinating closely with hardware product management, supply chain, and logistics teams to keep customers accurately informed, particularly in fast-moving or lean organizations.
  • Comfort setting strategic direction for events, community, Linux marketing, PR, and influencer marketing, trusting your team to run day-to-day execution, but jumping in to help wherever necessary.
  • Experience building and managing a marketing budget, including prioritizing spend across multiple channels and functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical hardware detail into messaging for a range of audiences.
  • Willingness to travel (roughly once every 2 months) to Framework's San Francisco office for product review cycles and workshops, plus occasional travel for marketing events and photoshoots.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Framework Computer, our products, and our community.
  • Experience in consumer electronics marketing.
  • Experience with PC building or other hardware DIY projects (3D printing, Arduino, Raspberry Pi).
  • Experience partnering with a Creative Director or in-house creative team on integrated launch campaigns.
  • Background in an early-stage or scaling startup, comfortable building process where none exists yet.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, equity, and health benefits
  • Paid company holidays plus 20 PTO days per year
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Flexible work hours and locations, including every other Friday off!
  • 401K with matching for US employees
  • The chance to work at a startup that is making a positive social and environmental impact.
