Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, senior management, and agency staff to write and design newsletters, annual reports, signage, event materials, business stationery, brochures, flyers, invitations, press releases and announcements, email marketing communications, legal notices, direct mail, graphics, and other public-facing publications and digital and printed materials.
  • Manages and develops content for the agency’s website and social media accounts; coordinates social media strategies and special digital campaigns as needed.
  • Uphold agency image/brand integrity standards; develops clear and consistent messaging and acts as quality control for correspondence, communications, and public-facing documents; edits materials for correct grammar and syntax as needed.
  • Develop and coordinate creative outreach strategies to engage the public and community stakeholders and create interest in the agency’s projects, plans, and programs.
  • Format, edit, and design technical documents.
  • Coordinate special agency-wide event logistics; manages strategic direction, concepts, and visioning for events; works to create event programming and content; creates and manages event communications.
  • Manage email marketing software and share expertise regarding the agency’s contact database.
  • Build relationships with media representatives and participate in external events as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and fundraising staff to develop donor touchpoints which include but are not limited to: donor outreach, appreciation/recognition program execution, and annual campaign solicitation materials and communications.
  • Support Executive Director with news media and public speaking engagements as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field from an accredited university or college is required.
  • A minimum of seven years of requisite marketing/communications experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of related experience in the non-profit/human services sector as an employee or a volunteer is preferred.
  • Significant graphic design and/or graphic arts experience is preferred.
  • Must pass a local and state criminal history background check, fingerprints, physical examination, TB Test
  • Clearance from the State of Alabama Central Registry on Child Abuse and Neglect
  • Valid driver’s license and clearance from the agency’s insurance provider
  • Reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel on business

Preferred

  • Type at least 35 wpm
  • Knowledgeable in the use of professional creative software such as Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Knowledgeable in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with the care and use of general office equipment
  • Good telephone communications skills
  • Ability to organize and process information efficiently and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented
