Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Marketing Strategy & Leadership Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with the Bank’s overall strategic plan, growth objectives, target markets, and client segments. Partner with executive leadership to translate business priorities into clear, actionable marketing initiatives. Serve as a strategic marketing advisor to leadership, bringing forward recommendations, ideas, market insights, and opportunities rather than simply responding to requests. Develop an annual marketing plan and calendar that provides greater visibility into campaigns, events, communications, sponsorships, and key initiatives throughout the year. Establish priorities and ensure marketing resources are focused on initiatives that provide meaningful value to the Bank and its clients. Manage the marketing budget, outside partners, vendors, and agency relationships as appropriate. Develop meaningful metrics to evaluate marketing effectiveness and regularly communicate results, opportunities, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Brand Strategy & Stewardship Serve as a steward of the Bank’s brand, ensuring consistency in how we communicate who we are, the clients we serve, and what differentiates our approach. Maintain and evolve brand standards across digital, print, advertising, events, presentations, collateral, and internal and external communications. Ensure the Bank’s marketing reflects the sophistication of our clients while remaining personal, approachable, and relationship-driven. Develop messaging that reinforces the Bank’s commitment to Relationships, Solutions, and Trust and brings those values to life through the client experience. Identify opportunities to strengthen brand awareness and positioning within the communities and industries the Bank serves.
  • Business Development & Market Support Build strong partnerships with market leaders, relationship managers, and business development teams to understand their markets, clients, prospects, and growth opportunities. Develop targeted marketing strategies and materials that support relationship managers in building their networks, deepening existing relationships, and generating new business opportunities. Create market- and industry-specific campaigns that reflect the unique needs of the Bank’s client segments. Partner with banking leadership to identify opportunities to promote the Bank’s deposit, lending, treasury management, private banking, specialty banking, and other capabilities in a way that is consultative rather than product-driven. Provide marketing support for new markets, office openings, strategic initiatives, and areas of business expansion. Help equip client-facing teams with high-quality presentations, collateral, talking points, and other tools that strengthen business development conversations.
  • Digital Marketing & Communications Oversee the Bank’s digital presence, including website strategy, social media, email marketing, digital campaigns, and other online channels. Develop a thoughtful content strategy that increases visibility and positions the Bank and its leaders as knowledgeable resources within the markets and industries we serve. Identify opportunities to feature leadership expertise, client success stories where appropriate, community involvement, market insights, and the Bank’s unique approach to relationship banking. Ensure digital content remains current, relevant, engaging, and consistent with regulatory and brand requirements. Evaluate emerging marketing technologies and digital capabilities that can improve efficiency, engagement, personalization, or measurement.
  • Client Engagement, Events & Community Presence Develop a strategic approach to client events, sponsorships, community partnerships, and other engagement opportunities. Partner with market leaders and relationship managers to create experiences that deepen client relationships and provide meaningful opportunities to connect with prospects and centers of influence. Evaluate sponsorship and event opportunities based on strategic alignment, relationship value, brand visibility, and potential business impact. Oversee the planning and execution of key Bank events, ensuring a high-quality experience that reflects the Bank’s brand and culture. Look beyond traditional banking marketing to identify creative ways to strengthen the Bank’s presence within the communities it serves.
  • Internal Partnership & Culture Build trusted relationships across the organization and create a marketing function that is viewed as a proactive and solutions-oriented business partner. Work collaboratively with executive leadership, banking, credit, operations, technology, compliance, human resources, and other departments to support enterprise-wide initiatives. Partner with the People team, when appropriate, on employer branding, recruiting campaigns, employee communications, and initiatives that reinforce the Bank’s culture. Help tell the story of the Bank internally as well as externally, creating greater connection between our brand, our culture, and the experience we want employees and clients to have. Manage competing priorities with sound judgment, clear communication, and an understanding of what is most important to the organization. Oversee the planning and execution of key Bank events, ensuring a high-quality experience that reflects the Bank’s brand and culture. Look beyond traditional banking marketing to identify creative ways to strengthen the Bank’s presence within the communities it serves.
  • Marketing Operations, Compliance & Execution Establish effective processes for managing marketing requests, projects, approvals, timelines, vendors, and deliverables. Maintain appropriate controls and documentation to ensure marketing activities comply with applicable banking regulations, advertising requirements, privacy standards, and Bank policies. Work closely with Compliance and other appropriate partners to ensure marketing materials receive necessary review and approval. Maintain organized records of campaigns, materials, approvals, sponsorships, vendor relationships, and expenditures. Take ownership of projects from initial concept through execution, measurement, and follow-up, ensuring commitments are completed accurately and on time.
  • Leadership Expectations The Director of Marketing is expected to lead through influence, partnership, accountability, and a strong understanding of the business. Success in this role requires someone who listens first, asks thoughtful questions, challenges conventional thinking when appropriate, and is comfortable bringing forward a point of view. This leader should be equally comfortable developing a long-term marketing strategy, sitting with a relationship manager to understand a business development opportunity, preparing an executive presentation, evaluating the effectiveness of a campaign, or stepping in to ensure an important initiative gets across the finish line. As the marketing function continues to evolve, the Director of Marketing will also be responsible for assessing the resources, processes, technology, and capabilities needed to support the Bank’s future growth.
