Job Summary

Own the end-to-end digital content strategy for a sports brand, aligning editorial vision with cross-functional stakeholders, delivering a calendar-driven, platform-native content engine, and leading a growing team to turn data-driven insights into engaging experiences.

  • Content Strategy & Editorial Leadership: define strategy, roadmap, and tentpole readiness across brand, PR, partnerships, and operations.
  • Platform Excellence & Optimization: ensure native-first content on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Reels, and other formats, with testing, hooks, captions, and cadence to maximize reach.
  • Leadership & Team Development: build and mentor a multi-role content team while protecting brand reputation and handling confidential information.

Job Description

  • Digital Content Strategy & Editorial Leadership – Based on the overarching brand strategy, define the overall vision, strategy, and roadmap for social and digital content development and execution.
  • Lead content strategic planning and execution. A key component will be ensuring thinking starts from a strategic brief and includes alignment across key stakeholders (brand, broadcast, communications, PR, partnerships, sporting operations, ticketing).
  • Define and oversee enterprise content calendar processes to ensure cross-functional alignment, preparedness for tentpole moments, and real-time responsiveness.
  • Provide weekly performance reviews and convert insights into clear creative direction.
  • Set and maintain standards for platform-native excellence, with deep working knowledge of TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and emerging formats, including algorithm signals, retention drivers, and distribution mechanics.
  • Oversee short-form content optimization and testing, including hooks, captions, thumbnails (where applicable), posting cadence, and packaging strategies to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in digital content strategy and creation
  • 3+ years of experience managing talent and high-performing teams
  • Experience in NWSL, MLS, or other professional sports
  • Deep knowledge of digital and social platforms, with expertise in understanding how best to leverage different types of multimedia to drive audience growth, engagement, and revenue impact
  • Deep understanding of audience drivers, marketing channels, and how they intersect with content strategy
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and resolve complex problems in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong grasp of social analytics tools and related platforms (e.g., Blinkfire, ScorePlay, StatsPerform, ClipPro, WSC, Asana)
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during NWSL season.
