Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional client service and high-quality deliverables on time and on budget
  • Communicate regularly with project partners and clients via email, virtual meetings and face-to-face interactions to provide status updates and strategic guidance
  • Develop content, design and edit reports about the client’s assets targeted toward a diverse group of stakeholders, including engineers, legislators and the public
  • Partner with client’s engineering teams to develop technical status update presentations in a digestible format
  • Format criteria manuals and update client’s website annually
  • Schedule and facilitate technical training sessions that educate internal and external stakeholders on best practices, processes and key engineering innovations
  • Lead outreach for and execution of large-scale events and technical workshops for engineers and industry partners
  • Provide strategic recommendations to client on event themes, messaging and logistics
  • Manage event planning, advance preparation and day-of-event execution
  • Measure attendee satisfaction and event impact, and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Proactively manage project performance, including budget, timeline and client satisfaction, and address issues to keep projects on track
  • Attend and manage in-person client events and functions

Requirements

  • 8+ years professional experience in project management or communications for/within the transportation or engineering industries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both on deliverables and with project partners
  • Ability to convey complex, technical topics in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to adjust communication style to appropriately meet the needs of a variety of audiences
  • Skilled at working with minimal supervision on high-profile projects
  • Experienced with budget management and tracking
  • Experience leading and supporting project teams while balancing multiple initiatives concurrently
  • Strong familiarity with transportation industry and its best practices
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a preferential focus in engineering, communications, urban planning or related field
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to client offices and events
  • Must be able to work onsite in Lisle, IL a minimum of three days, per week

Preferred

  • Project management experience with transportation engineering and technical writing or editing is preferred.
