The LIX (Laboratoire d'Informatique de l'Ecole polytechnique) is a Computer Science research laboratory active in the fields ofa) Fundamental Structures of Computationb) Efficient, Trustworthy, and Secure Models and Algorithmsc) Artificial IntelligenceFounded in 1988, LIX operates under the supervision (tutelle) of Ecole polytechnique, and CNRS Science Informatique (UMR 7161). It is a member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, and a partner of Inria.The laboratory is based on the campus of Ecole polytechnique in Palaiseau, mainly in the Alan Turing Building.The LIX brings together 210 members, including 75 permanent researchers and professors. It is organized into 16 teams, grouped into 5 research areas:1) Computer Mathematics 2) Proofs and Formal Methods3) Secure and Efficient Communications4) Modeling, Simulation and Learning5) Data Analytics and Machine LearningThe LIX is distinguished by numerous academic achievements, including the presence of a permanent member of the Academie des Sciences, several prestigious awards (CNRS bronze medals, De Brunijn Prize, Coons Award, Logic & Foundations Prize, ...), 5 ERC grants, as well as strong involvement in collaborative European and ANR projects, industrial chairs and partnerships.The LIX is closely associated with the Department of Informatics (DIX) for teaching and formations. This includes the formation in CS for Polytechniciens engineers, Bachelors of Ecole polytechnique, Masters students from Institut Polytechnique de Paris, as well as the direction of 3 specialities of the MSc&T (Master of Science and Technology) of Ecole polytechnique in Visual and Creative AI; Trustworthy and Responsible AI; Cybersecurity; Internet of Things; Science & Technology in Extended Cinematography.
