Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating promotional materials, social media graphics, and event invitations
  • Develop short-form content for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Facebook
  • Support development and scheduling of social media campaigns
  • Research relevant topics related to Appalachia, HIV, Hepatitis C, behavioral health, and public health systems
  • Assist with maintaining and updating website content using WordPress
  • Support newsletter drafting, editing, and email list management
  • Edit short-form and long-form video content for digital platforms
  • Apply basic color correction, audio adjustments, and visual enhancements
  • Collaborate with team members to align video content with campaign goals
  • Ensure content meets technical and aesthetic standards

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an associate or bachelor’s degree program in Communications, Marketing, Media, Public Relations, or related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms and best practices
  • Experience using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar tools)
  • Basic video editing experience with portfolio samples
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to self-manage projects and meet deadlines in a remote environment
  • Interest in public health, rural communities, and health equity
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Comfort working independently in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively with diverse communities, including racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, people living with HIV, individuals with lived experience of substance use, and neurodiverse communities
  • Commitment to culturally competent and equitable health communication

Preferred

  • Experience with nonprofit marketing
  • Basic knowledge of WordPress or content management systems
  • Familiarity with web publishing
  • Knowledge of motion graphics, sound design, or advanced editing tools
  • Experience analyzing engagement metrics or survey data
