Job Summary

Content-focused role supporting Governors Island’s digital channels, with responsibilities in content creation, analytics, and website project support. Strong writing, editing, and multimedia skills plus experience with nonprofit content development are required. Preferred candidates bring familiarity with social platforms and design tools, and an interest in public space and cultural programming.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute written, visual, and video content to drive engagement across Governors Island’s website, social media, and other digital channels
  • Collect and analyze social and other digital analytics to inform content strategy and development
  • Support the implementation of the Governors Island website redesign project, including but not limited to assisting with the review of recommendations by web consultant, content migration, copywriting and editing, image selection and more
  • Assist with the development of marketing collateral as needed
  • Support team with and the execution of special events and public programs as needed.
  • Support with additional special projects within the Public Affairs team scope as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree with a focus on marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related fields required.
  • Non-traditional applicants who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers will also be considered
  • Experience and success developing, creating, and executing engaging content for social media, email campaigns, and websites in a nonprofit or similar setting.
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to break down complex ideas into engaging and easily digestible content
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to tailor messaging based on audience and media type
  • Familiarity with developing content for social platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or similar software
  • Experience with web management and email marketing tools, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, and/or Canva or comparable tools.

Preferred

  • Experience with web management and email marketing tools, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, and/or Canva or comparable tools.
  • Passion and interest in public space, New York City parks, climate justice, public art, nature, urban planning, and/or cultural programming is preferred
  • Graphic design skills and experience with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop a plus
