Job Summary

A Creative Director / Design Lead is sought to own the visual identity for the inaugural Los Angeles Jazz Festival. The role spans marketing, partnerships, and on-site experiences, requiring leadership in brand systems, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and on-site presence. Key requirements include experience with entertainment brands, a strong design perspective, and high-mileage availability for executive briefings and on-site weeks.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative vision & visual identity across marketing, social, OOH, partnerships, and on-site experience
  • Build and maintain a cohesive visual brand system with corresponding assets for each platform
  • Translate artist, sponsor, and community narratives into powerful visuals in conjunction with Head of Partnerships, Chief Publicist, Head of Communications & Government Relations, Finance Director and Ticketing Director.
  • Create frameworks that allow speed without sacrificing quality, building templates for speed & consistency
  • Partner closely with marketing and leadership to ensure work drives both culture and ticket sales, including the: Webmaster, Social Media Manager, Creative Design Manager, Digital Engagement Manager, Brand Strategist and Mobile App Developer.
  • Manage designers, photographers, videographers, and external partners as needed
  • Collaborate with marketing, PR, sponsor, and digital leads regularly on visual needs
  • Translate artist assets into cohesive festival brand language
  • Deliver polished work on tight timelines

Requirements

  • Experience with entertainment and cultural brands
  • Expertise in multi-layered experiential creative and design needs
  • Strong creative point of view with a clear taste level
  • Understand live event energy and need for efficiency
  • Comfortable balancing art, commerce, and logistics
  • Exceptional communicator and collaborator
  • Can balance artistry with legibility & sales needs
  • Understanding of the diverse LA creative landscape
  • Must be able to be on site at our Headquarters during most of the first week of each month, particularly on Friday for a full Executive Team Meeting.
  • Must be able to participate in a daily 30 minute, virtual briefing with the President & CEO.
  • Must be able to participate in a Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9:00am - 10:00am Full Executive Team virtual briefing.
