Job Summary

Own social media storytelling for a college, turning student, alumni, and campus-life stories into a scalable content engine across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and more. Own real-time coverage, community engagement, and audience growth while upholding brand and accessibility standards.

  • Content architecture and calendar ownership across channels to surface timely stories and posts.
  • Story collection and production through student interviews, photo/video capture, and short-form social videos.
  • Engagement and measurement through trend monitoring, comment responses, and performance reporting.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a content strategy for the college’s primary social media channels (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, X/Twitter).
  • Monitors trends and analytics to optimize engagement and reach.
  • Generates original content including written posts, graphics, videos, and photo stories.
  • Plans and executes real-time coverage of campus events, student life, and special announcements.
  • Interviews students, alumni, and staff to write and share their stories and testimonials.
  • Captures and edits high-quality photos and video footage to use across digital platforms.
  • Creates short-form videos optimized for social media.
  • Ensures content aligns with brand and accessibility standards.
  • Serves as the voice of the college on social media, responding to comments and messages in a timely and authentic manner.
  • Cultivates an engaging online community through interactive posts and campaigns.
  • Maintains the digital photo library by ingesting, organizing, and keywording images for long-term access and use.
  • Tracks content calendar, approvals, and asset usage.
  • Works closely with departments, student organizations, and external partners to identify stories and promotional opportunities.
  • Serves as a liaison between the marketing team and campus units seeking social media support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience managing social media accounts for an organization required.
  • Strong writing, editing, photography, and video production skills required.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms, scheduling tools, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or Lightroom) required.
  • Familiarity with content analytics and reporting tools required.
  • Experience working in higher education or a mission-driven organization is preferred.
  • May be eligible for remote work up to two days per week.
