Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Managing editor duties for story and information content showcased on the company’s intranet and website.
  • Writing strong, clear communications to reach internal and external audiences.
  • Developing strategy and content for the company’s social media accounts.
  • Directing design, photography and video production projects as part of the storytelling process.
  • Managing relationships with internal clients, including department heads and company officers.
  • Building strong relationships with the company’s subject matter experts, industry associations and other agencies supporting this work.
  • Responding to reporter requests.
  • Handling media pager duty on a rotating weekly and weekend basis. Serve as PIO on incidents as needed.
  • Serving on the company’s Incident Command Team on a rotation basis. Complete FEMA PIO training and participate in company table-top exercises.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in a corporate communications environment or public relations agency.
  • Proven experience with corporate reputation management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to work on a highly collaborative, service-oriented team environment, and coordinate responsibilities openly with others within the organization.
  • Experience in issues management, media relations, crisis communications required.
  • Proven ability to gain trust quickly and to maintain confidentiality and credibility within the company and when dealing with the media.
  • Proven experience working with digital media and online community engagement.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience in planning and implementing communications plans and projects; track record of meeting deadlines; ability to juggle multiple topics and projects at once; and increasing responsibility.
  • Must be self-directed, team-focused, and results-oriented.

Preferred

  • Experience in the energy sector and public policymaking a plus.
