  • Lead content projects from concept to publication while using data to improve results.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Tell great stories. Identify and develop compelling stories about athletes, people, communities, events, and the sport of triathlon that build awareness, connection, and fandom.
  • Own the editorial pipeline. Help manage the editorial calendar and maintain a consistent pipeline of content across USA TRI, USA Triathlon, and Foundation channels, ensuring stories are planned well ahead of major moments and opportunities.
  • Create and publish content. Develop written and social content, including features, profiles, interviews, captions, web stories, campaign content, and other editorial formats. Work with internal teams and contractors to develop complementary video, photography, and graphic content.
  • Expand our content ecosystem. Identify partners, creators, athletes, events, and organizations producing content that can help tell the broader story of triathlon. Build a reliable pipeline for discovering, curating, and leveraging that content across our channels, while developing partnerships that expand our reach and storytelling capabilities.
  • Bring athletes to life. Build relationships with athletes to uncover stories beyond competition results—including training, travel, preparation, personality, challenges, accomplishments, and life outside racing.
  • Support major moments. Develop and execute content plans around Olympic and Paralympic events, World Championships, national championships, major domestic races, athlete milestones, and other key moments on the triathlon calendar.
  • Build audience and engagement. Create content that grows reach, deepens engagement, and gives audiences reasons to follow, participate in and support USA TRI, USA Triathlon and the USA Triathlon Foundation.
  • Support organizational priorities. Develop content that supports membership, participation, philanthropy, corporate partnerships, events, athlete development, and other organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate across teams. Work closely with Marketing & Communications, High Performance, Constituent Engagement, Events, Education, Corporate Partnerships, Philanthropy, and other teams to identify opportunities and develop content that advances shared goals.
  • Manage content projects. Coordinate assignments, timelines, approvals, contributors, freelancers, and other resources to move content from concept through publication.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience in content, marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, with increasing responsibility for content strategy and execution.
  • Experience leading content projects or small teams, with a track record of setting clear expectations, developing talent, and delivering high-quality work.
  • Proven ability to build and manage a content pipeline that consistently delivers engaging content and grows audience reach and engagement.
  • Strong storytelling and editorial instincts, with experience developing content across social, video, digital, editorial, and other channels.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, stakeholders, and external contributors in a fast-paced environment.
  • Data-informed mindset, with the ability to use audience insights and content performance to prioritize work and improve results.
  • Resourceful and hands-on, with the ability to produce high-quality work and make smart tradeoffs in a lean environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with the Olympic and Paralympic movement or a professional sports property.
  • Content experience supporting fundraising or sponsorship revenue.
  • Familiarity with endurance or participation-based sport.
