Drive hands-on municipal communications work in a paid internship with the City Manager's Office, focusing on content creation, branding consistency, and outreach.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • assist with drafting and editing content for the City's website, social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, and other public-facing materials
  • researching topics to support messaging initiatives
  • developing graphics or visual content
  • assisting with event promotion
  • monitoring engagement metrics
  • supporting internal and external communication efforts
  • contribute to special projects related to community outreach, branding, and public information campaigns
  • perform additional administrative tasks as needed to support departmental operations
  • Identifies content requirements and suggests content strategies and deliverables as part of robust communications plans
  • Develops, manages, and posts content for the social media, website, and other platforms; maintains a consistent writing style, voice and branding across platforms

Requirements

  • Open to high school seniors, college students (all levels), recent graduates, and individuals pursuing non-traditional educational paths.
  • Formal course working communications, public administration, journalism, marketing, political science, or related field is helpful but not required.
  • Equivalent experience, demonstrate interest, or a strong portfolio of work will also be considered.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with generative artificial intelligence.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
