Job Description

Drive citywide communications by leading media relations, content creation, social channels, and public events for Riverside.

  • Own media relations, press conferences, and communications for citywide audiences.
  • Oversee the City website; ensure fresh, consistent content and optimal visitor experience.
  • Manage multiple social media sites across departments with content calendars and audience engagement.
  • Coordinate promotional events, press conferences, and webinars to boost brand visibility.
  • Draft speeches for elected officials and staff for diverse engagements.
  • Work with an outside marketing firm to execute PR and marketing plans aligned with branding.
  • Track marketing effectiveness using Google Analytics and present KPI reports to leadership.
  • Ensure city-wide adherence to branding images, colors, and logos.
  • Coordinate and organize community events, employee gatherings, and Public Safety PR activities.
  • May be asked to perform other duties essential to the job.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field is required.
  • 1-3 years in marketing/communications with at least 2 years managing social/digital for organizations.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • FEMA NIMS ICS certifications (100, 200, 700, 800, 300, 400) within 1 year of hire.
  • Strong ability to prioritize, organize large information sets with effective results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with officials, staff, public, and media.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally at all times.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CMS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and spoken English with proper grammar and spelling.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated success in a similar position, preferably in the public sector.
