About the Role

Our Marketing & Communications Storytelling Specialist turns our philanthropic work impact into clear, human-centered communications. You will work with our internal fund development teams and sometimes clients to gather stories, testimonials, impact updates, and outcomes from the communities we serve, then turn them into donor emails, fundraising campaigns, landing pages, video scripts, SMS messages, social media content, and public-facing communications.

This role is for someone who knows how to write with care, taking program details and lived experiences and shape them into stories that are accurate, respectful, emotionally grounded, and easy to act on.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Writing samples or a portfolio of relevant work are encouraged.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience creating marketing campaigns, fundraising communications, nonprofit communications, or mission-driven content.

Very Important for this role

  • Ability to turn program work, advocacy efforts, and community impact into clear public-facing stories.
  • Experience writing for email, SMS, social media, landing pages, video scripts, and donor communications.
  • Ability to work across program, development, marketing, and creative teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, messaging consistency, and quality control.
  • Good judgment when working with sensitive stories, community experiences, and donor-facing communications.
  • Ability to understand and adapt to multiple brand voices, and market positions while working across all clients.
  • Storytelling skills that translate brand strategy into emotionally compelling copy across emails, SMS, ads, captions, all copy.
  • Ability to manage 8–9 client accounts without sacrificing creativity, quality, or consistency.
  • Ability to switch between different types of non profit orgs, tones, and audiences while maintaining clarity.

Helpful Experience

  • Experience in a nonprofit, advocacy organization, foundation, social impact organization, or community-based organization.
  • Familiarity with fundraising campaigns, donor journeys, annual appeals, giving days, or impact reports.
  • Experience interviewing staff, community members, donors, or partners for storytelling purposes.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed, ethical, and consent-based storytelling practices.
