Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Pitch daily social-first news and content ideas, translating timely news into social posts or hosted social videos.
  • Create original content (Reels, TikTok, etc.), including video editing and on-camera hosting.
  • Monitor community engagement, responding to comments and questions across platforms.
  • Write social copy that reflects brand voice and follows brand writing guidelines.
  • Remain curious and conduct daily research on beauty/fashion social trends and broader platform trends.
  • Brainstorm regularly to help develop new social franchises and series that align with Byrdie’s social POV.
  • Cover live events (e.g., awards shows) alongside the Byrdie editorial team.
  • Serve as an extension of the brand's social presence and on-camera identity.
  • Pull weekly social insights alongside the Byrdie social team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-3 years of digital and/or social media experience, preferably at a brand, a news organization, and/or a content studio.
  • - Familiarity with major social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, X)
  • - Social video editing (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or other editing tools)
  • - On-camera hosting
  • - Adobe Photoshop
  • - Google Slides/Docs
  • - Social scheduling Tools
  • Travel Required: 10%
