CIVIC

NYC, 3x in office, 2X remote

OUR COMMUNITY

We’re CIVIC. Since 1999, we’ve led the way in cultural marketing, providing integrated solutions to top-tier brands including Ford, Audible, HBO Max, Verizon, The Stonewall Inn, NBCUniversal, Peacock, among many others. We are an Ad Age Small Agency Award winner for 2024 & 2025.

We are known for big ideas: creating long-term brand platforms designed to impact culture, address the biggest societal issues, build loyalty, stimulate word of mouth and generate client revenue.

Our broad suite of integrated marketing services includes:

  • Brand strategy, concept and creative development
  • Live events and brand activations
  • Content development and execution via Civic Studios
  • PR/media relations and social media marketing
  • Executive and internal communications
  • Growth marketing and partnership development

At Civic, we believe business is the world’s most powerful platform for positive change. We believe our community can build bridges between companies and communities, and we empower our employees to help amplify underrepresented voices. Our goal is to build a more inclusive and equitable future in tandem with our clients and partners.

YOUR ROLE IN THE COMMUNITY

We're looking for a resourceful, entrepreneurial and organized self-starter to work directly with our Chief Growth Officer (CGO) and the agency President on new business development and M&A activity. This is a high-visibility role for someone who wants to learn how growth and deal-making actually happen inside a marketing services company — from first outreach to pitch to close.

You'll research new business and acquisition prospects and targets, organize pipeline and deal materials, track down critical information, and help turn scattered information into a clear picture the CGO and President can act on. The role sits at the center of research, sales, financial analysis, project management, and relationship-building, and it requires someone who takes the initiative and moves things forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research & analysis: Research prospective clients, target companies, industries, and competitors; synthesize findings into clear, actionable summaries and briefing documents
  • Pipeline & deal support: Pitch research, support, and preparation; track and organize new business opportunities and M&A targets; maintain CRM/pipeline;
  • RFP and other Solicitation support. Preparation of RFP and other solicitation responses, including research, project management, content creation, budgeting, and administration
  • Financial & data analysis: Assemble financial data, market sizing, comparables, and valuation inputs — revenue, EBITDA, and margins — to support target evaluation; help coordinate due diligence requests and track responses to close
  • Follow-up & coordination: Track action items after calls, meetings, and diligence sessions, and confirm that commitments to prospects, targets, advisors, and internal teams are completed on schedule.
  • Relationship support: Interact directly with prospects, target company leadership, advisors, and internal stakeholders;
  • Process building: Work with the CGO to build and refine business-case and solicitation-response repositories, trackers, templates, and other materials to make the business development and M&A process repeatable as it scales

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3–5+ years of relevant professional experience: business development and/or M&A experience in an agency environment, within experiential, entertainment, branding, and/or integrated marketing.
  • Strong research and analytical skills — comfortable digging into a company, market, or data set and coming back with findings, cogent analysis, and recommendations for next steps
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to synthesize complexity into something clear and actionable
  • Skilled in designing visually compelling presentation decks and pitch materials
  • High emotional intelligence — good with people, reads a room well, builds trust quickly with both internal teams and external counterparties
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through across multiple work streams and deadlines
  • Entrepreneurial mindset — resourceful, comfortable with ambiguity, takes initiative rather than waiting for instructions
  • Proficiency with Excel,/Google Sheets, Google Docs and Powerpoint required; familiarity with CRM tools and AI research tools a plus
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

CIVIC COMMUNITY AND CULTURE BENEFITS:

  • A positive, fun, supportive and diverse team environment, with opportunities for advancement and a commitment to staff development and growth
  • Competitive salary and incentives
  • Full benefits package including dental and vision, and retirement plan with employer match
  • Best-in-class parental leave benefits
  • Paid time off and encouragement to take time off for self-care
  • Hybrid work schedule

Civic is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age or veteran status.
