Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for all athletic communications operations, including content development, media relations, and digital storytelling.
  • Serve as the primary media contact for Marian Athletics
  • Collaborate closely with athletics marketing to align messaging, branding, and fan engagement strategies across all platforms.
  • Supervise and mentor the Sports Information Specialist, fostering professional growth and operational excellence.
  • Oversee coverage of Marian’s 26 varsity athletic programs, including game day operations, press releases, feature writing, and historical archiving.
  • Manage and maintain Marian Athletics’ digital presence, including the official website and social media platforms, with an emphasis on engagement and brand consistency.
  • Direct all public-facing elements of home athletic events, including statistics, live stats, streaming/broadcasts, public address coordination, and in-game content delivery.
  • Produce and distribute statistics, reports, and historical data for conference, national reporting, and award recognition.
  • Represent Marian University at Crossroads League media events and meetings, ensuring compliance with conference and NAIA regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, targeting majors in communications, journalism, sports management, and sports marketing
  • Demonstrated success in collegiate athletic communications, sports information, sports marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising staff and managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard platforms and tools (e.g., Stat Crew/PrestoStats/Genius, Adobe Creative Suite, web CMS, and live streaming technologies).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and external stakeholders.
