Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop a working understanding of the teams and tasks involved in publication of Harper’s hardcover books
  • Learn important publishing software programs and use them to assist in creating marketing copy, influencer outreach, administrative tasks, and other departmental functions
  • Assist with managing departmental accounts on Goodreads and NetGalley
  • Coordinate marketing mailings for buzz building campaigns to bookstores and influencers
  • Assist with digital marketing tasks including digital advertising, social media outreach, and other content creation to promote our books
  • Brainstorm and build lists for various methods of promotion, including book clubs, influencers and more

Requirements

  • Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience.
  • Candidates must be available to work 21 hours per week across 3 or 4 days, from February 8 to April 16, 2027, at the location specified in the job description. This internship is compensated at a rate of $18 per hour.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program.
  • A passion for books is highly valued!
  • Motivated, proactive and attentive to detail
  • Engaged and thoughtful communicator willing to coordinate cross-departmental work
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of platforms including Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok and Canva a plus.
