Own and drive Astroscale U.S. public relations and corporate communications, shaping external storytelling, media strategy, event speaking, crisis readiness, and executive readiness; lead cross-functional collaboration and measurement across the PR program.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop compelling stories from the company, from engineering breakthroughs to executive vision, and confidently pitch those stories to media.
  • Write and edit high-impact content for external channels, including press releases, op-eds, media pitches, award submissions, etc.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key tech, business, and trade reporters, editors, and influencers to generate positive coverage for Astroscale U.S.
  • Create PR strategies and plans that align with our commercial goals; partner with the Marketing Team to develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies, campaigns, and related content.
  • Working with our Engagements Manager, create pitches to secure high-profile speaking slots at major aerospace, tech, and business conferences and other events.
  • Coach and prepare executives and other spokespeople for media and other external engagements.
  • Protect and strengthen the company brand by developing crisis communication plans and managing sensitive situations with poise and skill.
  • Coordinate with internal communications to ensure that messages inside and outside the company are well aligned and mutually reinforcing.
  • Manage corporate comms contractors, PR agencies, and communications budgets to maximize ROI and effective communications.
  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of communications efforts, including media monitoring; provide regular reports and insights to management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, journalism, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in PR, corporate communications, journalism, and/or writing, with experience in aerospace and defense and working with marketing teams strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communications skills across a variety of content types and audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and create stories, and secure top-tier earned media.
  • Extensive and strong relationships with reporters, editors, and influencers, and the ability to build and maintain new relationships.
  • Experience with managing media inquiries and preparing spokespeople for media interactions, including interviews, press conferences, and other engagements.
  • Proven ability to translate technical data, products/solutions, and related information into meaningful narratives and compelling pitches to broader audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker who is also happy to write, edit, pitch, and do other day-to-day tactical work.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
