Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated email and SMS marketing strategies tailored to various stakeholder groups, including donors, families, applicants, and schools
  • Create compelling, on-brand copy for emails and SMS messages, including subject lines, calls-to-action, and personalized content that encourages engagement and actions such as donations, applications, or event participation
  • Manage audience segmentation within ActiveCampaign, maintaining clean lists, building new segments, and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations
  • Design, build, test, and deploy email and SMS campaigns, including automations such as welcome series, donation acknowledgments, impact updates, and urgent appeals
  • Collaborate with web development teams to ensure contact forms are integrated with ActiveCampaign for lead capture and conversion
  • Develop and optimize subscriber funnels to maximize engagement and conversion rates
  • Lead SMS strategy by managing opt-ins, consent, and opt-out processes, and executing high-impact SMS broadcasts and MMS campaigns
  • Implement use cases such as real-time impact updates, event reminders, text-to-give campaigns, and two-way communication for support and engagement
  • Monitor campaign performance metrics, analyze insights, and provide regular reports with recommendations for improvement to leadership
  • Ensure all messaging complies with nonprofit standards, platform policies, and legal regulations

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of hands-on experience in email marketing, with proven success managing strategies and campaigns, preferably in nonprofit, education, advocacy, or fundraising sectors
  • Proficiency in ActiveCampaign or similar ESP platforms such as MailChimp or Klaviyo
  • Familiarity with SMS marketing principles, compliance regulations (TCPA, 10DLC, opt-in/opt-out), and best practices for permission-based texting
  • Strong copywriting skills with the ability to craft persuasive, emotionally resonant, and concise content for both email and SMS formats
  • Experience with list management, segmentation, automation, A/B testing, analytics, and basic HTML/CSS for email customization
  • Knowledge of integrating email and SMS strategies into a unified multi-channel approach, including cross-channel automations and triggered follow-ups
  • Understanding of nonprofit fundraising tactics such as year-end appeals, recurring giving, and text-to-give campaigns
  • Experience working with CRMs like Salesforce or Bloomerang and their integration with email platforms
  • Basic graphic design skills for creating visuals using Canva, Adobe, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with tracking ROI through Google Analytics or similar tools to measure campaign effectiveness

  • Knowledge of education policy and current trends in the K-12 space (preferred but not required)
