Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Maintain visual and narrative brand consistency across platforms
  • Write, edit, and oversee public-facing content, including newsletters, press releases, and campaign materials
  • Create communications toolkits, SOPs, and branded templates for staff use
  • Collaborate with program and operations staff to ensure communications reflect current services and organizational priorities
  • Produce high-quality videos, photos, graphics, and audio content that amplify survivor and community voices
  • Support day-to-day content publishing across social and digital platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, website)
  • Attend events to capture footage, conduct interviews, and document stories with consent and privacy in mind
  • Edit and direct content from events, protests, and organizational activities
  • Build relationships with freelance creatives and vendors as needed
  • Grow and engage Asiyah’s online audience using analytics-informed strategies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Marketing, Journalism, Design, or a related field, or equivalent lived/professional experience
  • 2–4 years of experience in multimedia production, communications, or digital storytelling
  • Demonstrated experience creating short-form video, photography, graphics, and written content for social and digital platforms
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in content creation and editing tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator), CapCut, or similar platforms
  • Ability to translate complex or sensitive topics into clear, accessible, and respectful messaging
  • Comfortable attending and documenting events, including evenings or weekends as needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with staff, community partners, and external creatives

The Asiyah Women’s Center is the first women’s emergency center in New York City and in New Jersey to address the gap of appropriate residential services for the Arab, Middle-Eastern, Muslim, South Asian (AMEMSA) and/or the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) population. Our mission is to provide temporary housing for victims of domestic violence and women facing eviction, and/or homelessness. By connecting under resourced women in our community to job opportunities, a range of mental health and medical services, permanent housing facilities, health insurance and legal assistance, we hope to empower women to get back on their feet and overcome their deeply traumatic personal circumstances.
