Job Summary

Own and operationalize Big Reuse's membership program, aligning structure, launch, and ongoing communications to deepen community engagement and funder-supported impact.

  • Membership design and launch: define structure, recruit members, and roll out program communications.
  • Content & storytelling: produce weekly social, newsletters, and blog content from program teams and centers.
  • Cross-program coordination: maintain the marketing toolkit, update the website, and support fundraising campaigns and events.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Research membership models and analyze Big Reuse’s current programs to establish a membership program structure for Big Reuse
  • Launch and manage membership program, including member communications and program promotion
  • Weekly content creation, including social media posts/reels, newsletters, and/or blogs using content from Big Reuse program teams and Reuse Centers
  • Work with program teams to identify opportunities to highlight accomplishments and create collaboration posts with funders to feature updates on exciting projects
  • Work with program teams to keep Big Reuse website pages up to date
  • Attend occasional program team or Big Reuse special event to capture photo/video footage for communications content and live social media updates
  • Maintain cross-program marketing toolkit to spread awareness of all of Big Reuse's work
  • Assist Director of Development and Development Coordinator with communications strategy, assets, and campaign pages for 3 annual fundraising campaigns
  • Assist Director of Development and Development Coordinator with special projects, such as event invitations, event promotion, targeted newsletters, and advocacy campaigns
  • Lead the creation of Big Reuse’s annual report

Requirements

  • Strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable developing and leading new projects
  • Ability to adjust communication styles and strategies to different audiences and situations
  • Comfortable working with a diverse group of individuals in a range of capacities
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently; self-motivated
  • Enthusiasm for creativity and new ideas
  • Minimum two years of related work experience
  • Ability to work efficiently in work environment where priorities may shift
  • Experience/proficiency working with Google Workspace including Gmail, Gdrive, Docs, Sheets and Forms

Preferred

  • Experience with launching and operating membership programs
  • Experience running social media accounts, including Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook, BlueSky, LinkedIn, and/or Reddit
  • Knowledge of membership systems or other Customer Management Service-type programs
  • Knowledge of NYC sustainability and environmental programs, and NYC community connections
  • Professional writing experience a plus
  • Experience with or willing to learn a range of computer applications and online communication tools including Canva, Mailchimp, Givelively, new/mode, Salesforce, Shopify or similar website builders
