Volunteer Social Media Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Creating and scheduling engaging social media posts.
• Keeping our social media pages active and up to date.
• Promoting upcoming activities, events and volunteering opportunities.
• Sharing photographs and updates from the community garden.
• Creating simple graphics, posters and promotional content.
• Helping us celebrate the achievements of our volunteers and community.
• Responding appropriately to comments and messages or passing enquiries to the relevant person.
• Helping increase our social media reach and engagement.
• Ensuring posts are appropriate and consistent with the charity's values.
• Obtaining or confirming appropriate permission before publishing photographs, particularly where children or vulnerable people may be pictured.

Requirements

• Confidence using Facebook and other social media platforms.
• Good written communication skills.
• Creativity and an eye for engaging content.
• Basic graphic-design skills or willingness to learn tools such as Canva.
• Good spelling and attention to detail.
• An understanding of privacy and confidentiality.
• The ability to work independently while following agreed guidelines.
• Reliability and good communication with the wider STCG team.

Preferred

• Previous experience managing social media for a charity, community group, business or organisation would be helpful but is not essential.
