Fort Hays State University is a thriving liberal and applied arts, a state-assisted institution in western Kansas with an enrollment of approximately 14,210 students. It has four colleges — Arts and Sciences, Education and Technology, Business and Entrepreneurship, and Health and Life Sciences — and a Graduate School. It also has a Virtual College that delivers courses electronically throughout Kansas and beyond. Fort Hays State occupies the southwest corner of Hays, Kan., a city of about 20,000 people located halfway between Kansas City and Denver on Interstate 70.
