Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead website communications strategy, governance, accessibility, and projects.
  • Lead web content strategy, search visibility, and content coordinator support.
  • Lead social media communications and support advertising campaign development.
  • Conduct research and evaluate communications effectiveness.
  • Develop and coordinate communications plans for college initiatives and support public and media relations.
  • Support departmental and institutional operations.

Requirements

  • Three years of professional experience in web communications, digital communications, marketing communications, public relations, strategic communications, or a related field.
  • A Master's degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; a Bachelor's degree may substitute for one year of experience; and an Associate's degree may substitute for six months of experience. Degree must be in a related field.
  • Experience developing and implementing communications strategies or plans and consulting with managers, departments, or internal clients regarding audiences, messages, channels, and communications practices.
  • Experience writing, editing, reviewing, and publishing public-facing content for websites, social media, advertising, public relations, or related communications channels using plain-language and audience-centered practices.
  • Experience coordinating website content strategy, web governance, user experience, search visibility, or digital communications within a content management system.
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility requirements and practices, including ADA and WCAG standards, sufficient to guide web content and coordinate compliance efforts.
  • Experience developing and evaluating social media or integrated campaign communications and using analytics, audience research, stakeholder feedback, or campaign data to recommend improvements.
  • Project management and interpersonal skills sufficient to manage multiple priorities, coordinate vendors and other contributors, provide consultation and training, meet deadlines, and exercise independent professional judgment.
  • This position requires successful completion of employment references and a driver’s license background check.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, digital communications, web communications, or a related field; or a position-related professional certification in digital accessibility, web analytics, project management, digital marketing, content strategy, or a related area.
  • Experience working in higher education, government, or another complex public-sector organization.
  • Experience managing content and governance for a large or complex website using Drupal, WordPress, LiveWhale, or a comparable content management system.
  • Experience using GA4, Looker Studio, Google Tag Manager, Salesforce, social media analytics, media-monitoring platforms, or comparable tools to evaluate performance and inform communications decisions.
  • Experience managing web development, accessibility, digital advertising, media agency, analytics, or communications vendors, including developing requirements, coordinating deliverables, and evaluating performance.
  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, focus groups, content testing, or stakeholder engagement activities, or developing and delivering communications training.
  • Experience supporting public and media relations, leadership communications, or emergency, sensitive, or rapidly developing communications.
