Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading the press and media relations strategy of the SVPA to increase our audience, awareness, engagement, and reach
  • Oversee press direction for all media, press, news, etc.
  • Analyze metrics to ensure goal progression and adjust strategy accordingly
  • Lead a press team of 2-5 volunteers, interns, and co-ops
  • Provide project management, feedback, guidance, and mentorship
  • Lead internal press meetings, delegate tasks, and prioritize work among the team as it aligns with deadlines and org initiatives
  • Write, edit, and publish press materials such as press releases, interviews, blogs, and op-eds
  • Draft speeches, statements, interview responses, and other public-facing pieces as needed
  • Respond to press inquiries and requests for information from the media
  • Find and pursue media opportunities, including radio shows, podcasts, television, list posts, interviews, awards, and more

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience with press and media relations
  • Must be a strong writer for a variety of audiences and purposes
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and balance diverse needs
  • Experience leading a team, managing projects, and/or mentoring others
