Video Producer (Short-form)

Responsibilities

• - Decide what each shoot needs to capture, based on the client’s content strategy, so the footage actually gets used
• - Build a prep document for every shoot, including shot list, location, timing, who’s on camera, gear, and client requirements
• - Lead shoots on location from arrival through wrap, usually within 60 miles of Grand Rapids
• - Edit short-form video for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts, and edit the photos from each shoot
• - Set the editing standards and look the rest of the team follows
• - Manage any outsourced video editors we work with, including assigning the work and reviewing what they deliver
• - Deliver finished files on schedule in formats that are ready to post
• - Keep raw and finished files organized and labeled in Google Drive
• - Maintain our equipment, handle transport and setup, and flag when something needs repair or replacing
• - Write captions for the videos you produce when an account needs it

Requirements

• - A portfolio or reel of short-form video you shot and edited yourself. This matters more to us than years of experience or a degree.
• - Comfort working on location, including framing, clean audio, working with the light you’ve got, and filming people who are in the middle of their workday
• - Solid editing skills for social video, including pacing, on-screen text, sound, and strong openings
• - Experience planning a shoot ahead of time, not just showing up and filming
• - Comfort working on a monthly cycle. Content for all of our clients is due on the same day every month, so your shoots and edits have to line up with that schedule.
• - A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• - You live in Michigan and can make a monthly in-person team meeting in Grand Rapids

Preferred

• - Experience shooting for businesses (trades, manufacturing, healthcare, professional services)
• - Photography and photo editing
• - Adobe Premiere Pro (it’s our team standard)
• - Video for paid social ads
