Job Description

The Vice President of Marketing develops and implements global marketing and communications strategies that drive demand for the Association’s products, services, and initiatives. This role is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Marketing and Communications function, with an emphasis on digital marketing, web presence, and social media.

In addition to leading the core marketing team and external resources, this position will lead and execute marketing initiatives for ISSA Charities programs in partnership with the Director of ISSA Charities.

Roles, Responsibilities & Expectations

Marketing & Communications Strategy

  • Direct the development and execution of global marketing communications initiatives, including campaigns, social media presence, the Association website, public relations, internal communications, regulatory communications, corporate events, and tradeshows. 
  • Establish, own, and drive an integrated internal and external communications strategy that strengthens employee and member understanding, engagement, and commitment, with measurable return on investment. 
  • Manage brand delivery and consistency across all marketing and communications for all divisions. 

Leadership, Team Development & Culture 

  • Lead a modern, multi-resource marketing function, including a team of 7 marketing professionals, an outsourced web/digital marketing agency, and freelancers/contractors as required to scale capacity and specialized skills. 
  • Serve as the driving force in shaping the work ethic, culture, and values of the Marketing team. 
  • Collaborate closely with departments across the organization to ensure alignment and execution of cross-functional priorities. 

Budget, Vendors & Operational Excellence 

  • Build and manage the corporate communications/marketing budget; ensure effective resource allocation and performance against goals. 
  • Determine which projects should be completed internally vs. externally; manage relationships with outside vendors and partners as necessary. 
  • Drive continual process improvements and implement best practices to manage projects efficiently, working closely with sales and operations leadership. 

Digital Marketing & Web Presence 

  • Provide strategic oversight for digital performance across web, email, and social channels, partnering with the outsourced web/digital agency to plan, execute, and optimize marketing initiatives and audience engagement. 
  • Ensure consistent brand experience and content governance across the website and digital channels, supporting both organizational and divisional goals. 

ISSA Charities Marketing

  • In partnership with the Director of ISSA Charities and team, lead and execute marketing initiatives that support ISSA Charities programs (ISSA Hygieia Network, ISSA Scholars, Cleaning for a Reason) awareness-building, participation, and fundraising outcomes. 
  • Align Charities campaigns and communications with ISSA brand standards and broader Association marketing strategy to ensure clarity, consistency, and maximum reach. 
  • Coordinate Charities-related storytelling, digital promotion, event/tradeshow visibility, and communications planning in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external resources as needed.

  • Experience using project management software such as Smartsheet or Asana (a plus). 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field required; Master’s preferred.
  • Previous experience as VP of Marketing, Marketing Director, or other senior marketing/communications leadership role.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing communications; association experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a marketing communications team.
  • Cleaning and facility solutions industry experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external agencies and contract resources to scale execution (web/digital and creative support).

Salary Range: $170,000-$200,000
