Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate field coverage of all assigned union events.
  • Create high-quality, compelling, and simple content for audiences.
  • Work closely with communications and organizational staff.
  • Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Engage in content production, scripting, editing and on-camera/filming responsibilities.
  • Participate in on-camera work and/or filming, including framing, lighting, audio, and basic production techniques for mobile and professional cameras.
  • Script, storyboard, and plan short-form content that aligns with organizational goals and campaign messages.
  • Translate complex issues, campaigns, and concepts into simple, compelling visual narratives.
  • Travel for on-site coverage and accommodate evening/weekend assignments.
  • Support event coverage and rapid-response content in collaboration with staff and leaders in the field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in journalism, video production, and digital content creation
  • Proficient knowledge of video and graphics editing software
  • General commitment to the principles of organized labor
  • Proven experience creating short-form and vertical video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook/Instagram Stories
  • Strong storytelling skills, including the ability to translate complex issues into simple visual narratives
  • Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar) and graphics/editing tools (e.g., After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva or similar)
  • Experience with on-camera work and/or filming, including framing, lighting, audio, and basic production techniques for mobile and professional cameras
  • Ability to script, storyboard, and plan short-form content that aligns with organizational goals and campaign messages
  • Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail, including the ability to fact-check, proofread, and ensure brand and message consistency

Preferred

  • Experience with capcut or similar mobile-friendly editors (bonus)
  • Experience creating content for labor unions or advocacy campaigns (bonus)
  • Familiarity with analytics to optimize reach and engagement (bonus)
