Job Summary

Own the organization’s external communications and storytelling portfolio across media, government affairs, and member engagement to build community confidence and investment.

  • Shape executive messaging and serve as a media liaison across interviews, appearances, and public events.
  • Translate policy positions into accessible messaging for members, officials, media, and the public.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an annual communications plan aligned with organizational priorities and the legislative calendar.
  • Oversee communications channels to maintain a consistent and professional brand voice, including website content, e-newsletters, social media, print materials, and digital communications.
  • Produce high-quality written content including speeches, talking points, annual reports, press releases, member communications, and executive messaging.
  • Support the President & CEO and senior leadership with communications preparation for media interviews, public appearances, presentations, and legislative meetings.
  • Serve as a storytelling partner to economic development staff, helping frame wins, milestones, and long-term vision in ways that build community confidence and investor pride.
  • Track and report communications and marketing metrics to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Manage external vendors including graphic designers, web developers, advertising partners, photographers, videographers, and printers.
  • Develop communications strategies supporting the organization’s legislative and advocacy priorities at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Translate policy positions into accessible messaging for members, elected officials, media, and the public.
  • Collaborate with the contract lobbyist to ensure coordinated messaging and advocacy communications.
