Job Summary

Own and manage the Museum’s social media presence day to day, shape events and brand voice, and turn data into strategy across multiple platforms.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Manages and creates all social media content for the Museum every day, multiple times per day across channels
  • Manages and creates all events on social media; creates, edits, delegates content across all events and announcements
  • Represents the Museum’s brand as a whole across social channels
  • Collects data weekly, monthly and annually both from the Museum’s social channels as well as across the Museum’s satellite channels
  • Strategizes based on quantitative data and qualitative data

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, public affairs, journalism, English, or related field from an appropriately accredited institution; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience directly managing social media accounts for an organization, brand, institution, or business, including hands-on responsibility for developing, creating, publishing, and managing organic social content across multiple major platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube), using platform-specific best practices.
  • Experience developing or executing paid social media campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience independently developing social-first content from concept through publication, including identifying stories and opportunities, adapting brand voice for social audiences, writing platform-specific copy, sourcing or creating visual assets, and managing a content calendar.
  • Demonstrated experience using native social media analytics and/or social media management tools to track and interpret performance—including reach, engagement, audience growth, traffic, and conversions—and using those findings to make documented adjustments to content, timing, targeting, or strategy.
  • Proven professional experience translating complex scientific, technical, educational, or similarly specialized subject matter into accurate, engaging, audience-appropriate digital or social media content for non-expert audiences.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated professional experience directly managing social media accounts for an organization, brand, institution, or business, including hands-on responsibility for developing, creating, publishing, and managing organic social content across multiple major platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube), using platform-specific best practices. Experience developing or executing paid social media campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience independently developing social-first content from concept through publication, including identifying stories and opportunities, adapting brand voice for social audiences, writing platform-specific copy, sourcing or creating visual assets, and managing a content calendar. Experience integrating social media into broader digital marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience using native social media analytics and/or social media management tools to track and interpret performance—including reach, engagement, audience growth, traffic, and conversions—and using those findings to make documented adjustments to content, timing, targeting, or strategy.
  • Proven professional experience translating complex scientific, technical, educational, or similarly specialized subject matter into accurate, engaging, audience-appropriate digital or social media content for non-expert audiences.
