Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Shape NCJW’s social presence
  • Manage NCJW’s social media calendar across platforms, balancing advocacy, organizational storytelling, Jewish life and values, new trends, timely cultural moments, and audience engagement.
  • Run the day-to-day operation of NCJW’s social channels, from concept and copywriting through publishing, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Work closely with the Director of Digital Strategy to implement and continually strengthen NCJW’s social media strategy, voice, audience growth, and engagement.
  • Translate complex policy, advocacy, and organizational priorities into clear, compelling, social-first content designed for how people actually consume information online.
  • Spot the moments when NCJW should jump into the conversation — from breaking news and Jewish communal moments to cultural conversations and emerging social trends.
  • Exercise strong editorial judgment about when and how NCJW should enter conversations, balancing speed, creativity, accuracy, organizational voice, and strategic priorities.
  • Maintain a consistent and recognizable NCJW voice while adapting content appropriately for different platforms and audiences.
  • Create compelling, social-first content that feels native to the platform — including graphics, carousels, photography, live content, short-form video, and whatever format comes next.
  • Appear on camera as an NCJW ambassador and help develop approachable, personality-driven content that makes the organization and its work accessible to new audiences.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 1+ years of professional experience managing social media for a nonprofit, advocacy organization, political campaign, mission-driven brand, media organization, or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media channels and editorial calendars for an organization or brand.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, including the ability to distill complex issues into concise, engaging, platform-appropriate content.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, audiences, algorithms, trends, online culture, and the different ways people engage across channels.
  • Demonstrated experience creating social-first content, particularly short-form video, and comfort appearing on camera as an organizational representative.
  • Experience with community management and a strong instinct for building authentic relationships with audiences, partners, influencers, and other accounts online.
  • Strong news judgment and the ability to identify when an organization should enter — or stay out of — fast-moving online conversations.
  • Familiarity with social media management, design, video editing, and analytics tools.
  • A deep appreciation for the history and lived practices within Jewish tradition, culture, identities, community, and the issues and diverse communities for which NCJW advocates.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $65,000-$75,000 . Salary is commensurate with experience.
  • Paid Federal and Jewish holidays
