The role focuses on producing and publishing short-form content across platforms, collaborating with the founder, and managing community engagement. You will source assets, pitch concepts, edit diverse content, and analyze performance to improve reach. Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, plus independent work habits, are important.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Create a 3-5 short-form videos/posts per week to be shared across platforms (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts)
  • Work with the founder to source and organize content assets
  • Pitch content concepts aligned with our strategy and voice
  • Edit podcast clips, interviews, field footage, and original content
  • Write captions and publish content across platforms
  • Respond to DMs and comments across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Engage with relevant accounts (workers, brands, creators, educators)
  • Identify and monitor trending conversations where The Skilled Project voice is relevant
  • Help manage and evolve the content calendar while staying flexible
  • Track what’s resonating across different audience segments

Requirements

  • 1-3+ years creating short-form content for social media (professional, freelance, or personal)
  • Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube (Expanding The Skilled Project’s YouTube channel is a big focus for this role)
  • Experience with community management and authentic engagement
  • Organized and reliable, comfortable working with a loose content calendar and quick turnarounds
  • Comfortable owning parts of projects and working independently
  • Strong creative instincts and ability to pitch ideas that align with strategy and voice
  • Strong communication skills and ability to take creative direction
  • Experience editing short-form content using in-platform tools or similar

Preferred

  • Experience with editing tools such as CapCut, Canva, Adobe Premiere, Opus Clip, etc.
  • Interest in workforce issues, skilled trades, construction, or labor topics
  • Located in the Bay Area, California
  • Remote role (North Bay Area, CA preferred but not required)
