Job Description
The Social Media Specialist or Senior Specialist is a key player on ASCAP’s fast-paced Marketing & Communications team and assists with the successful execution of digital marketing and social media campaigns and support for virtual, live and hybrid events. The Specialist plays an active and direct role in ideating, curating and designing social media assets; managing digital marketing service partnerships and platforms; writing succinct and targeted copy for posts in alignment with the ASCAP brand; and utilizing social analytics and audience research to make recommendations and guide marketing strategy and future social media campaigns in ways that drive impressions across our platforms, with a particular focus on TikTok, IG Reels and YouTube shorts.
The individual in this role is curious, self-motivated, proactive, and passionate about music and pop-culture. The role requires excellent communication, organizational and technical social media platform skills, passion and enthusiasm for music, and the ability and drive to go the extra mile. The Specialist, Social Media reports to the Senior Director, Marketing & Communications and is based in the New York office.
Occasional travel for in-person meetings may be required.

Areas Of Responsibility & Accountability

• Ideate, creative direct and manage social media assets while also writing succinct and targeted copy for posts in alignment with the ASCAP brand and social media strategy across all platforms.
• Help oversee the creation, production and development of video content for social platforms with an increased focus on growing engagement with our TikTok, YouTube and IG Reels content.
• Cultivate, develop and manage influencer marketing initiatives, building partnerships that align with ASCAP's brand and promote its members.
• Manage relationships with digital marketing partnerships and platforms at TikTok, Meta, YouTube, Sprout and Crowd Surf.
• Leverage data insights to make recommendations for future social media campaigns and ways to drive impressions across our platforms.
• Develop and curate social highlights documents for large scale campaigns, capturing screenshots of high-level members, press and community engagement and reporting/ presenting findings to ASCAP’s marketing, membership, and executive team.
• Research and inform trends and insights from the community, creators and brands, sharing learnings and recommendations for ASCAP to take part in viral moments.
• Lead live social media coverage at experiential events, ensuring real-time coverage and alignment with ASCAP’s brand.
• Manage timelines and deliverables of social media assets for live, hybrid and virtual events, experiential programs and integrated digital marketing and social media campaigns.
• Manage logistical communications to campaign for event stakeholders, including creative consultants, staff, talent and others.
• Write copy and create social tags.
• Draft and propose social media copy across multiple social media platforms.
• Monitor ASCAP’s social media presence and promptly, tactfully, and accurately interact and engage with our members, influencers, and employees to sustain and enhance ASCAP’s brand.
• Elevate and manage day-to-today community management across social media platforms
• Compose, consolidate, coordinate, and edit written materials, such as briefing documents, emails, social messages, talking points and creative assets (photo, videos, animations).
• Brainstorm, generate, and propose big ideas on upcoming campaigns and projects.
• Monitor consultant budgets and campaign expenses for accuracy and appropriateness
• Work exceptionally well and cross-functionally across the marketing, membership, repertory, finance, licensing, and legal departments on the successful execution of projects.
  

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor of Arts Degree in a related discipline from an accredited four-year college required; experience in an entertainment related job or internship a plus
• 3+ years of experience in marketing, social media or a related field
• Advanced skills on all social media platforms and digital marketing platforms
• Ability to travel to event if required / Must be available to work evenings, and some weekends as needed
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workplace, Google Drive, Google Analytics, and all applications
• Basis knowledge of Content Management Systems, HTML a plus
• Passion for music of all genres and the music industry at large
• Background and familiarity with standard experiential marketing and marketing practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Superb organizational skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment and transition seamlessly from project to project with great attention to quality, detail, and execution
• Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
• Passionate about experiential marketing, social media, the music industry and wants to change the world with us
• Driven and ability to go above and beyond

• This position requires the incumbent to be in the office three days per week.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $84,000 and will be determined on an individualized basis depending on several factors that are unique to each candidate including geographic location (due to differences in the cost of labor), skills, education and prior relevant experience.
