Own media relations and PR strategy for Youth Villages across markets, driving crisis readiness, storytelling for families and youth, and program-level communications.
- Own media relations across markets and crisis response, shaping coverage for multiple programs.
- Coordinate planning, campaigns, and events with fundraising and community engagement.
- Train staff and families for on-camera interviews and media interactions.
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Leads development and implementation of comprehensive PR plans for Youth Villages and programs
- Conducts strategic media relations in key markets; on-call 24/7 for journalists and crises
- Ensures PR is accurate, timely, within budget, and aligned with operational goals
- Regularly evaluates PR strategy effectiveness and reports results
- Conducts media training for staff, families, and youth
- Creates press materials such as news releases, advisories, fact sheets, talking points
- Plans and executes PR for campaigns and events (news conferences, ribbon cuttings, fundraisers)
- Interviews families and writes stories for various uses
- Writes copy and assists with editing; follows AP Style
- Monitors media coverage and prepares monthly reports; collaborates with digital strategy
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related field
- Three to five years of experience in public relations and/or communications
- Proven track record of media success and relationships with North Carolina media
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities; flexible schedule
- Strong media relations, communications planning, and event promotion experience
