Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the VP, Marketing & Communications to evolve and steward The Moth's brand voice, positioning, and visual identity across all audience-facing channels.
  • Identify opportunities to increase The Moth's cultural relevance through partnerships, timely storytelling, and brand moments that introduce new audiences to our work.
  • Lead integrated marketing campaigns for live events, podcasts, national initiatives, fundraising moments, and organizational priorities—from strategic brief through execution, optimization, and reporting.
  • Develop creative briefs that translate business goals and audience insights into compelling campaigns.
  • Ensure consistent messaging, storytelling, and creative excellence across every platform and market.
  • Manage campaign budgets and partner with leadership to allocate marketing investments for maximum impact

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience developing integrated brand campaigns across owned, earned, and paid channels.
  • Exceptional strategic writing and messaging skills, with demonstrated experience shaping brand voice and creative direction.
  • Experience marketing live events, media, entertainment, arts, or cultural experiences, with a strong understanding of audience acquisition and conversion.
  • Experience managing paid media campaigns directly or through agency partners.
  • Proficiency in email marketing platforms (Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred) and a strong grasp of email strategy and segmentation
  • Fluency with digital analytics tools, including social media insights and Google Analytics; ability to read data and draw actionable marketing insights
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal; ability to develop compelling creative briefs and articulate strategic recommendations
  • Outstanding project management skills and the ability to lead multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends and to travel periodically, as required by The Moth’s live event schedule.
  • Ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Experience in the nonprofit arts, media, entertainment, or public media.
  • Experience with audio or podcast audience development, or working with media distributors
  • Experience managing agency relationships and creative production.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior team members
  • Familiarity with Airtable or similar project management tools
  • A genuine passion for storytelling, live performance, public media, or building brands that matter.
