Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement publicity strategies in collaboration with programmers and the Digital Marketing team
  • Supervise PR Specialists and Interns in collecting, organizing, and managing press materials, screeners, and credential assets
  • Draft, edit, and proofread pre-festival and post-festival press releases as directed by the Executive Directors and Programmers
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with PR teams from NYAFF’s sponsors and screening venues to coordinate publicity efforts
  • Handle press and media inquiries, manage press accreditations, and proactively pitch stories and interviews to maximize NYAFF’s visibility in U.S. and international media
  • Coordinate press attendance at red carpets, premieres, and special events
  • Schedule and oversee press conferences and interviews in coordination with the Guest Relations team
  • Maintain and expand NYAFF’s press and media contacts across platforms and cultural outlets
  • Track press mentions, send and receive photo/videos from visiting guests, and collaborate with the Digital Marketing team to amplify coverage
  • Generate a comprehensive post-festival press coverage report within two weeks after the festival concludes

Requirements

  • At least 6-8 years of professional experience in PR within film, arts, or cultural industries; film festival experience strongly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of Asian cinema, pop culture, and entertainment industry
  • Established press and media contacts in both US and Asia
  • Ability to manage press relations involving high-profile guests and international talent during high-stakes festival settings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead a team while collaborating effectively across departments
  • Highly detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
  • Must have full availability from May to the first week of August, and physical presence during the festival run (July 10-26, 2026)
  • Knowledge of any Asian language (preferably Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese, and Thai) is a plus
