  • Lead channel strategy for Microsoft Teams and SharePoint

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • In this role, you’ll help shape and lead the execution of Parts Town’s internal communications strategy, translating company priorities into clear, relevant, and engaging communications for team members across the business.
  • You’ll serve as a trusted communications partner to leaders and teams across the business, turning complex information into clear, relevant, engaging, and actionable communications. You’ll look beyond the initial request to determine what audiences truly need to know, why it matters, what action they should take, and the best way to reach them.
  • A key priority will be evolving our channel strategy - particularly how we use Microsoft Teams and our SharePoint intranet - to make important information easier to find, reduce communication noise, and help priority messages break through.
  • You’ll develop thoughtful strategies for multiple audiences, including corporate, remote, and Fulfillment Center team members who may have different communication needs and levels of access.
  • This is a hands-on manager role. You’ll shape the big picture while also writing, editing, planning, publishing, measuring, and continuously improving the day-to-day communications that bring the strategy to life.
  • - Partner with the Director of Marketing Communications to develop the internal communications strategy and own its day-to-day implementation, including planning, content development, channel management, measurement, and continuous improvement.
  • - Serve as a strategic communications advisor to leaders and cross-functional teams, helping clarify objectives, identify audiences, anticipate questions, and determine the right message, timing, channel, and call to action.
  • - Develop and execute communication plans for company priorities, organizational changes, major initiatives, policies, events, and other important updates.
  • - Create audience-specific strategies for office, remote, and Fulfillment Center team members, recognizing that different audiences may require different messages, formats, channels, and timing.
  • - Lead the internal communications approach for Microsoft Teams and continuously improve the SharePoint intranet and overall MS Teams communications strategy, including channel purpose, content organization, navigation, governance, adoption, and the overall team member experience.

Requirements

  • You have 8+ years of experience in internal communications, marketing communications, corporate communications, or a related field.
  • You have experience helping shape internal communications strategy and translating it into thoughtful plans, high-quality deliverables, and measurable results.
  • You have meaningful experience using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint as strategic communications channels - not simply publishing content within them.
  • You have a strong eye for visual storytelling and communication and can create engaging, on-brand internal materials. Experience with Canva is a plus.
  • You understand how to build an effective channel mix, establish clear purposes for different channels, reduce duplication, and help important messages reach the right audiences.
  • You have experience communicating with multiple team member audiences. Bonus points for experience supporting a large, distributed, frontline, manufacturing, or fulfillment-center workforce.
  • You’re an exceptional writer and editor who can make complex information clear, concise, relevant, engaging, and actionable across audiences and channels.
  • You know that accurate copy is only the starting point. You instinctively consider what is most important, what the audience needs to understand, why the message matters, and what action someone should take.
  • You’re a proactive self-starter with strong business judgment who can work through ambiguity, ask thoughtful questions, find answers, identify missing information, and keep initiatives moving without extensive supervision.
  • You can shape the big picture while rolling up your sleeves to execute the details - from strategy and stakeholder alignment through drafting, publishing, measurement, and follow-through.

Preferred

  • Bonus points for experience supporting a large, distributed, frontline, manufacturing, or fulfillment-center workforce.
  • Bonus points if you have earned a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, business, marketing, or a related field.

Parts Town

Parts Town was built from the ground up in 1987 with a team of just 5 people. The goal – to reinvent the restaurant equipment parts industry. 35 years later, we’re one of the fastest growing parts distributors in the foodservice equipment industry and have 1000+ team members who support national and international customers. How did we do it? We hired great people with great ideas. Where others saw the impossible, our Townspeople saw opportunity. We formed important partnerships with manufacturers and built an expansive inventory of OEM parts so we can ship faster and more efficiently. We kept technology front of mind, developing the industry’s first mobile app, where you can research and purchase parts with ease (no more headaches!). As our story continues to unfold, our culture will continue to be centered around our core values (Safety, Integrity, Community, Passion, Courage, and Innovation).Parts Town has been named to the Inc. 5000 list 15 years in a row, the Crain’s Fast 50 list 10 times, and we’ve landed on Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplace list for the past 3 years. We aren’t satisfied yet - our sights are always set on bigger, outside-the-box opportunities that will shake up the norm. We’re just getting started. Join us!
