Job Summary

Own the full content lifecycle for faculty and student storytelling, from researching and drafting scholarly and program content to coordinating publication, edits, and cross‑unit collaboration across Notre Dame's Keough School.

  • Translate complex scholarly research into engaging content optimized for digital platforms, web, and email.
  • Maintain editorial voice and brand standards across school communications.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, research, and write compelling content on faculty research, scholarly publications, grants, academic programs, and student outcomes.
  • Serve as the lead storyteller for student experiences across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs to support recruitment and engagement efforts.
  • Translate complex scholarly research and academic developments into engaging content optimized for digital platforms, web, and email.
  • Commission, edit and publish student blog posts that highlight academic experiences, global learning opportunities, research, internships and student life.
  • Build strong internal relationships with academic program staff, researchers, faculty, and students to surface story opportunities.
  • Review and edit team-generated content—including stories, newsletters, broadcast emails, and print collateral—to maintain consistency of voice, messaging, and AP Style compliance.
  • Maintain adherence to University brand standards and editorial guidelines across all school communications.
  • Collaborate with central campus partners, including Notre Dame’s Office of Public Affairs and Communications, Media Relations, and Notre Dame Research to amplify Keough School research and scholarship.
  • Maintain a pipeline of academic and research stories that feed into the school's central editorial planning process.
  • Coordinate content schedules with communications colleagues to ensure timely delivery of assignments.

Requirements

  • Education Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
  • Experience: 3 to 4 years
  • Degree Qualifications: Communications, Journalism, or related field
  • Skill Qualifications:
  • Professional communications experience in areas such as marketing, public relations, and/or copywriting, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Understanding of communications strategy and its connection to digital content, creation, and organization.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Interest in international affairs and peacebuilding.
