Job Summary

Own Texas political communications strategy for a statewide governor race, shaping message, responding to media, and steering crisis communications; lead earned-media campaigns with reporters statewide and nationally.

Communications Ownership: Write and direct short and long term plans, draft press materials, and respond to inquiries to protect campaign narrative.
Media Execution: Develop pitches, manage press conferences, and execute creative earned-media campaigns across statewide and national outlets.
Crisis & Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with staff on difficult situations and manage multi-stakeholder communications in a high tempo campaign environment.

Job Description

On the record spokesperson for the governor’s race.
Plan and oversee events including press conferences, press calls, and creative earned media opportunities.
Draft media materials, including press releases, talking points, online content, and statements.
Write short and long-term communications plans.
Develop pitch ideas and pitch stories to reporters in Texas and nationally.
Respond to media inquiries.
Work with staff to manage difficult communications situations, including crisis communications.
