Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent, comprehensive background research to develop refined client-facing materials.
  • Produce diverse communication materials with minimal guidance, showcasing a foundational understanding of client needs.
  • Ensure error-free materials through meticulous proofreading before team refinement.
  • Maintain and refine media lists, draft pitch materials, conduct media outreach, and establish foundational relationships with reporters.
  • Conduct regular media monitoring (traditional and social) and create coverage reports for a range of clients and industries.
  • Assist with managing projects, including taking notes in client meetings and on conference calls, tracking client deliverables and deadlines, managing task spreadsheets, providing activity reports and upholding timelines.
  • Perform background research and create briefing materials for the account team in preparation for meetings and calls with existing or potential clients.
  • Support new business initiatives by conducting background research, sourcing media clips, pulling case studies and proposal content from existing materials, as well as assisting in administrative tasks like arranging prep meetings, organizing resources, and monitoring project timelines.
  • Assist in training interns and new associates on GSG's voice and processes.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in strategic communications or public affairs within corporate, government, non-profit or agency spaces, political campaigns, or a related industry
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills with proficiency in distilling complex information with thorough knowledge of AP Style
  • Experience using digital communications and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, blogs, etc.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and expertise in building strong relationships
  • A natural problem-solver with good judgment, impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to manage up
  • Skilled at working under pressure, ensuring quality and organization across multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with media intelligence tools such as Quorum, Muck Rack, Infegy is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, political science, public affairs, public policy or other relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bilingual or multi-lingual abilities are a plus
