Job Summary

Support district communications as a part-time Public Relations Specialist, producing stories and coordinating outreach for schools and communities.

  • Identify and tell stories about district news and initiatives
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field
  • Coordinate with superintendents and administrators to support public messaging

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Identify and tell stories to promote schools through strong writing and multimedia content about district news, events, programs, services, students, staff and facilities.
  • Plan, write and edit content for websites, digital and print newsletters, social media and press releases.
  • Create social media and web content, including photos, videos and graphics, related to academics, athletics, extracurriculars, community events and district initiatives.
  • Coordinate with news media and district staff on coverage of district news.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, public affairs or a closely related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong command of grammar and the ability to submit clean copy on deadline
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to manage relationships, work in a team, work with senior leadership, and effectively communicate with stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, including the ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tight deadlines simultaneously

Preferred

  • Experience working in the communications field preferred
