Job Summary

Drive GEFA’s public relations and marketing efforts by coordinating statewide advocacy, external communications, and stakeholder engagement to align with gubernatorial objectives.

  • Own day-to-day advocacy, PR planning, and external communications across state offices, agencies, and partners.
  • Must-have: Undergraduate degree in a related field with at least 1 year of PR/marketing experience (or 4 years with lower level experience).
  • Standout: Budget monitoring, vendor management, and cross-functional coordination across government and private partners.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Implements the day-to-day advocacy and associated activities before state executive offices, various state agencies, local governments, stakeholders, media, and customers. Ensures consistency with the governor’s stated objectives and implicit intent.
  • Plans and coordinates public relations and marketing activities for the agency. Solicits and coordinates with customers, stakeholders, and private sector partners.
  • Maintains the GEFA website, social media channels, and the employee intranet .
  • Assists in the coordination, production, and distribution of external communication materials, such as press releases, talking points, speeches, presentations, letters, articles, brochures, manuals, and publications.
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders and represents the interests of GEFA in interactions with borrowers, stakeholders, staff of other governmental entities, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Travels occasionally throughout the state, including overnight travel. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field and applies pertinent new knowledge to performance of other responsibilities.
  • Manage purchases and billing through consultants/contractors. Monitors financial information to ensure operations are within budget. Executes all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited private and postsecondary institution in political science, journalism, communications, business administration, public relations, marketing or a related field AND one year professional level experience working in public relations or marketing
  • OR four years professional level experience in public relations, journalism, advertising, communications, speechwriting, or marketing AND one year at the lower career development level
  • Note: An equivalent combination of education and/or job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience, and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.

Preferred

  • 3-5 years of professional level experience in public relations
  • 3-5 years of professional level experience in marketing
  • 3-5 years of professional level experience in advertising
  • Government affairs experience
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including use of social media
  • Web content management experience
