Responsibilities

• Develop and execute public relations strategies that support organizational goals, programs, initiatives, events, and leadership visibility
• Draft press releases, media advisories, talking points, statements, pitches, executive messaging, and other communications materials
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, regional, and relevant industry media contacts
• Identify proactive opportunities that highlight the organization’s mission, impact, programs, and leadership
• Coordinate media outreach and pitching efforts for events, announcements, milestones, partnerships, and thought leadership opportunities
• Provide strategic communications counsel and messaging support on sensitive or time-sensitive matters as needed
• Collaborate closely with the marketing team to ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and organizational voice
• Assist with interview preparation, media coordination, and executive communications support
• Monitor media coverage and provide reporting, insights, and recommendations when applicable
• Stay informed on evolving media trends, communications best practices, and issues impacting the nonprofit and Jewish communal landscape
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Occasional availability for expedited or time-sensitive communications support is preferred

Requirements

• Proven experience in public and media relations media relations
• Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of media outreach, storytelling, and reputation management
• Experience supporting nonprofit, community-based or mission-driven organizations preferred
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and stakeholders
• Existing media relationships in the Long Island market preferred
