Job Summary

Lead the nonprofit PR function with cradle-to-grave media relations, executive messaging, and fast-response counsel that feeds leadership visibility and mission storytelling, while staying aligned with marketing voice.

Develop PR strategies to raise leadership visibility and highlight programs and impact.
Draft materials and coordinate outreach to local/regional media for events and thought leadership.
Align messaging with marketing, prep executives for interviews, and advise on time-sensitive issues.

Job Description

Develop and execute public relations strategies that support organizational goals, programs, initiatives, events, and leadership visibility
Draft press releases, media advisories, talking points, statements, pitches, executive messaging, and other communications materials
Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, regional, and relevant industry media contacts
Identify proactive opportunities that highlight the organization’s mission, impact, programs, and leadership
Coordinate media outreach and pitching efforts for events, announcements, milestones, partnerships, and thought leadership opportunities
Provide strategic communications counsel and messaging support on sensitive or time-sensitive matters as needed
Collaborate closely with the marketing team to ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and organizational voice
Assist with interview preparation, media coordination, and executive communications support
Monitor media coverage and provide reporting, insights, and recommendations when applicable
Stay informed on evolving media trends, communications best practices, and issues impacting the nonprofit and Jewish communal landscape

Proven experience in public and media relations
Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
Strong understanding of media outreach, storytelling, and reputation management
Experience supporting nonprofit, community-based or mission-driven organizations preferred
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and stakeholders

Existing media relationships in the Long Island market preferred
