Job Summary

Own the on-game promotions and entertainment coordination for the Flying Squirrels, blending live activities with community outreach and mascot culture to drive fan engagement.

  • Own game-day promotions setup, pregame on-field activities, and in-game entertainment coordination.
  • Support community engagement through school programs, camps, and mascot appearances.
  • Coordinate auctions, raffles, and charity programming in partnership with the promotions and community-relations teams.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate planning, set-up & preparation for all game days including prop assembly & maintenance, contest supplies, entertainment set-up, giveaway distributions, etc
  • Assist the Promotions Manager in being a lead member of the Flying Squirrels Funn Bunch Promotions Team/Entertainment Team
  • Assist Director of Entertainment with the creation and implementation of in-game promotions and theme nights
  • Assist in booking outside performers and entertainment such as dancers, acrobats, face painters, bands, etc
  • Oversee coordination with pregame on-field activities such as performances, National Anthems, Little League teams, first pitches, etc. as well as post-game activities including kids run the bases, catch on the field, and fireworks
  • Promote and represent the Flying Squirrels brand in all appropriate community events and programs including school programs, baseball camps, tabling events, and mascot appearances
  • Assist the Community Relations Coordinator with the fulfillment of donation requests and tracking for MiLB reporting purposes
  • Willingness to don a mascot suit for internal & external appearances as well as characters/costumes during games
  • Help coordinate auctions, raffles, special events and programming for Flying Squirrels Charities

Requirements

  • Available 30-40 hours per week during the baseball season, through September 2026
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm, energy, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Passion for community engagement, fan interaction, and the promotional side of the sports and entertainment industry.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and all 70 Flying Squirrels home games.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to safely lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.

The Richmond Flying Squirrels Baseball Club is a minor league baseball team in Richmond, Virginia. The team participates in the Eastern League, and is the Double-A affiliate of the 2010/2012/2014 World Champion San Francisco Giants, and plays at The Diamond. The Flying Squirrels front office staff is dedicated to making your experience at The Diamond the best that it can be. These FREE activities are designed to reward hard work and creativity for school children throughout the region.Additionally, Flying Squirrels Charities is a non-profit, 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to improving lives in the Richmond community. Launched in 2014, it focused on "Renovating Richmond's Recreation" - a community project designed to renovate youth baseball facilities. In collaboration with the City of Richmond, we identified youth fields most in need of assistance within the community, which were enhanced to make each area a welcoming space to learn and play baseball. Funds are raised through events during the year including the Dinner on the Infield, Have FUNN Go Putt and Nutzy's Block Party. Flying Squirrels Charities has the unique ability to connect the team brand with the Greater Richmond community in an effort to optimize results through funn and versatile fundraising campaigns.Our front office is located at The Diamond off the Boulevard (near the digital marquee sign). The front office is open M-F 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. The non-gameday Box Office is also in the front office and is open M-F 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. as well as on Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. (through end of season).
