Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement multi-journal marketing plans to drive submissions, usage, and revenue aligned with society partner expectations.
  • Manage the annual planning cycle with objectives, campaigns, and forecasting while adapting tactics from performance data.
  • Serve as primary marketing liaison to society partners, guiding joint strategies and ensuring exceptional service.
  • Collaborate with society leadership, staff, and editorial teams to tailor programs supporting growth and membership.
  • Plan and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns and events to raise journal visibility and engagement.
  • Coordinate promotional activities across email, content, social, SEO, and conferences for global reach.
  • Represent journals at key medical conferences, designing materials and engaging attendees.
  • Manage promotional budgets and campaign calendars to maximize ROI.
  • Forecast expenditures, adjust allocations by performance, and maintain budget adherence.
  • Ensure materials adhere to brand guidelines and quality standards, delivering on time.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute initiatives and align editorial/product strategy with marketing assets.
  • Track marketing metrics (email metrics, usage, submissions, subs sales) to assess campaign health.
  • Prepare regular ROI reports for leadership and partners, highlighting impact and opportunities.
  • Recommend data-driven adjustments and test new ideas to boost effectiveness.
  • Mentor Marketing Specialists and share insights to foster creativity and accountability.

Requirements

  • Marketing Expertise: 5+ years in product marketing or related roles, preferably in scholarly publishing or academic content.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Experience creating and implementing multi-channel marketing plans with on-time delivery and budget discipline.
  • Relationship Management: Strong ability to manage external partnerships, particularly with professional society partners.
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent written and verbal skills; comfortable presenting to editors, executives, and cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: Proficiency in marketing analytics; familiar with Google Analytics and Marketo.
  • Project & Budget Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and forecast marketing spend.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of academic publishing, peer-review, OA trends, and digital marketing practices.
  • Adaptability & Innovation: Willingness to adopt new tools and test innovative approaches.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Track record of cross-functional work across publishing, production, design, analytics.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field.
  • Travel: 15-20% for client meetings and medical conference attendance.
