Responsibilities

• Collaborating with reporters and editors
• Identifying content opportunities
• Optimizing posts for each platform and tracking performance to inform future strategy
• Producing social media cards, vertical video, short-form explainers and other platform-native content that complements and elevates our coverage

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field or equivalent experience
• A minimum of two years of relevant experience in social media presence and engagement
• Proven experience building, maintaining and engaging audiences on social media platforms
• Understanding of social media platforms and knowledge of their application for news
• Deep interest in local news and knowledge of content trends
• Working knowledge of analytics reporting suites for websites and social media
• Ability to work independently, including remotely, and to prioritize tasks
• Demonstrated writing and organizational skills
• Comfort working across written, visual and audio platforms.
• Tech-savvy at the content level; experience with animated gifs, manipulating photos, producing and editing video a plus
