Job Summary

Own and drive culturally informed community outreach and collaboration for Native-serving contexts, coordinating partnerships, intervention adaptation input, recruitment support, and ongoing team communication.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and developing relationships with Native-serving organizations, student groups, community leaders, and potential recruitment partners
  • Helping the research team approach communities respectfully and build trust over time
  • Bringing cultural awareness and community-informed perspectives to intervention adaptation, recruitment, and outreach
  • Reviewing intervention content and identifying areas that may require cultural or contextual adaptation
  • Supporting participant recruitment and the development of culturally responsive outreach materials
  • Coordinating meetings and maintaining project timelines, notes, contacts, and task trackers
  • Assisting with interview preparation, scheduling, and participation
  • Contributing to qualitative research activities, literature reviews, and study-material development
  • Communicating consistently with the research team and completing approximately 5–10 hours of work each week

Requirements

  • Is an undergraduate/graduate student in Texas OR is working currently in Native American spaces
  • Has meaningful involvement or relationships with Native American or Indigenous communities
  • Can help the team identify and connect with appropriate leaders and community partners
  • Is interested in women’s health, interpersonal violence prevention, mental health, health equity, or community-engaged research
  • Is organized, dependable, proactive, and comfortable coordinating several moving parts
  • Communicates respectfully and professionally with community members and research partners
  • Is willing to learn trauma-informed and culturally responsive research practices
  • Can handle sensitive information carefully and maintain participant confidentiality
